In August 2024, Play Africa expanded its outreach by building meaningful connections with the communities of Lenasia (Greyville Primary School) and Ivory Park (Lord Khanyile Community Hall). These new partnerships allowed us to bring play-based STEM learning to children who had never previously experienced Play Africa programmes.
Through the “I Am A Scientist” activations, a total of 1,622 children engaged in hands-on experiments, creative problem-solving activities, and interactive science experiences designed to spark curiosity and a love of learning.
The activations were met with great enthusiasm from both children and caregivers, reinforcing Play Africa’s mission of creating accessible, educational, and inspiring experiences in communities across Johannesburg.
Below are images and videos from the “I Am A Scientist” activations at Lenasia and Ivory Park, capturing the excitement and discovery of the programme in action.
