Play Africa was honoured to receive the 2024 Transformative Partnership Award from the Collective Leadership Institute in Germany. The award was announced in April 2024 and presented during a ceremony attended by Play Africa in Potsdam.
The Collective Leadership Institute created this award to recognise multi-stakeholder partnerships that are actively driving meaningful change, rather than only celebrating achievements once the work is complete. Play Africa received the inaugural award for its long-standing partnership with Constitution Hill in Johannesburg and the many ways this partnership is building a broader ecosystem of collaboration and meaningful engagements with communities.
Located within Constitution Hill, a former prison that now houses South Africa’s Constitutional Court, Play Africa works at the heart of a national symbol of justice, democracy and human rights. The award highlighted the strength of this partnership and its role in supporting ongoing efforts to build and strengthen democracy in post-1994 South Africa.
The recognition from the Collective Leadership Institute celebrated Play Africa’s commitment to partnering with institutions, organisations, and individuals at various levels. Through catalytic partnerships, Play Africa is an African leader in fostering community engagement and creating child-centred informal learning spaces that support active citizenship and and contribute to holistic wellness.
