Our Earthwise World is a new Play Africa programme that brings together diverse communities to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards through hands-on learning.
Play Africa, Southern Africa’s pioneering children’s museum and education maker space, invites partners across Johannesburg to collaborate with us for this exciting programme that connects children (ages 7–12) with real-world sustainability initiatives through immersive learning experiences.
We are seeking organisations, innovators, and changemakers working in sustainability — from conservation and green technology to urban farming and waste reduction — to open your doors and give children a glimpse into your work.
Each tour will last 30–60 minutes, offering children a chance to explore your site, ask questions, and learn from your efforts. Following each visit, Play Africa’s facilitators will lead Design Thinking workshops, helping children reflect on what they’ve learned and design their own creative solutions inspired by your organisation’s work.
Together, we’ll nurture young innovators who can imagine and build a more sustainable world.
What’s in it for You?
- Showcase your organisation’s impact to young audiences.
- Inspire the next generation of sustainability leaders in your area of work and others.
- Advance environmental action through contributions to community education and awareness.
- Strengthen local networks within Johannesburg’s sustainability ecosystem.
To join us, please complete this form to help us understand your work and how Play Africa can best support you, where needed, in creating meaningful, child-centered tours for the programme.

Through the end of 2025, Play Africa will also launch several exciting grant-funded playful learning programmes to serve children throughout Johannesburg and beyond.
